You can also see in this picture a failed attempt at a bed skirt.
We took off her closet doors and moved an organization/storage piece in from Ikea. I also did a fun ombre dresser re-do and stenciled a valance.
And then life happened and no more progress was made. Untilllllll. . . .I found a twin four poster bed for sale on Craigslist. I know it's against etiquette to talk money so I'll whisper what I paid for this bed. $25 I know, right!
So again with the push to do cute stuff to her room.
The woman we bought the bed from told me it was her cousins and she was 60 years old now. The bed at one time had a canopy. The bed was absolutely perfect and had a fresh coat of paint. The only thing I needed to do was somehow reinvent the canopy.
I decided that I would make a cute fabric scrap swag that would hang from one poster to the other going the length of the bed.
The cost of the fabric for this project was $15. I was so excited to find a pink chevron. I also got a polka dot and zebra print.
If you would like to do a project similar, here are some simple steps to take.
Start out with your base that you are going to tie all of your fabric scraps on. I used ribbon.
Tear the fabric into strips. Then cut those strips into the length you would like your ties to be.
Once you have all of your fabric cut and ready to go start tying and two hours later you will still be tying and two hours after that you will still be tying.
But it is so worth it. I think it turned out super cute. My little one loves it!
